The Awakening.

.....and slowly the pain fades, and yet I am still afraid to open my eyes.
What will I see, am I dead and already in hell waiting to receive my punishment. Or has the fiend Lestat worked his dark magic on me.
Will I open my eyes to find nothing but darkness as I awaken to a life of eternal death. What shall I see in my new life of death.......

The pain has now left my body, all there is left for me to do is to open my eyes and embrace the night.
I take a deep breath only to remember that it is no longer necessary for me to inhale. Now for the first time in my life I am really scared of what I shall find on the other side of my own eyes.

....oh the wonder of the world that greets me.
The cold statues come to life, for only now can I see the pain each artist had to go through to produce the icons before me.
The dead flowers beside the old forgotten graves show they once had a life, even now in death they are beautiful to behold.
Each grain of sand a wonder of geometry, each side impossible and yet correct and proper.

I have opened my eyes not onto a world of death but one of life.
