2.01
Sorsha spied Marius slinking up the stairs out of Armand's view.
"Marius," she called. "I'm going to have to ask
you to clean up my
kitchen
by yourself-"
"But Armand hid my towels!" he whined like a small
child.
"I don't care. This was fine and dandy until it hit my
kitchen."
Armand, now clean, smiled victoriously as his maker sulked into
the
large kitchen to clean up the flour and whatever else dirtied the
room.
"Don't get too glib, Armand. Thanks to you, my bathroom and
hallway are
drenched. You know where the Wet-Vac is
"
Sorsha motioned for Armand to get up and head upstairs. He did
reluctantly and stamped his feet as he rose the stairs. Laughter
bellowed from the kitchen as Marius enjoyed his fledgling's
punishment
as well.
"I wonder what Maharet would say about you bossing around
immortals like
that," Lizette chimed in, emerging finally from the study.
Lestat's eyes widened at Lizette's appearance.
"How---who---how---"
"So articulate!" Lizette laughed, taking a seat by the
writing table.
"Cell phones are a remarkable invention." Lestat
growled and crossed
his arms angrily across his chest. "Continue, Sorsh?"
"Okay
can you workers hear me okay in your manually
labored minds?" she
started off. A frying pan flew into the living as Marius's
answer,
which Daniel quickly returned with a well-aimed toss, and Armand
stomped
the floor properly. "Well, then. Let's go over the rules
again.
"Where's Nicole?"
"Here I am!" She sailed down the banister from the
second floor and
crashed into the couch, whizzing over Jesse and on to the floor
next to
Patrick. "Hey! You were on my plane!" she exclaimed
breathlessly.
Patrick, slightly surprised, returned. "Uh
yes. I
believe so. So we
meet again."
Sorsha tapped her foot on the hardwood floor, her eyebrows
raised.
Nicole smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I had to take of my brace.
It was
getting on my nerves."
Sorsha nodded. "Okay then. All present and accounted for,
let's get
started. The rules: No seducing mortals
or immortals
to
distract them
from the scavenger hunt."
"Oh but Sorsha. You take all the fun out of it,"
Beverley joked, her
eyes darting playfully to the pouting Lestat.
Laughing, she continued, "No telepathy so everyone is on
level
grounding. Transportation shall be by normal avenues, which means
no
flying for you vampires. And finally, everything happens at
night...to
be fair. We mortals will have to take on vampiric sleeping
habits."
"That's it? Those are the rules?" Monique asked.
"Leaves a lot of
leeway for hair dye
"
Sorsha shook her head, not ready to broach the meaning of that
statement
yet. "Now, while the rest of you were goofing off."
Pillows flew at
Sorsha from all directions. "Lizette compiled a list for the
treasure
hunt. Would you do the honors, my dear?"
Lizette rose from her chair and read from the piece of paper she
had
brought with her from the study. "The mortals shall acquire
a postcard
from Nigh Island, a sober frat boy in the Quarter, an autographed
The
Vampire Lestat CD, Jesse or Daniel's high school year book
"
Jesse
shrieked. "
a bottle of massage oil, a Talamasca
calling card and a
Book of the Dead."
Ideas were already forming in the mortals' minds as to how to
acquire
the items.
"Now for the vampires," Lizette continued, "You
must find a sex manual,
a Mayfair witch's diary, a copy of Memnoch the Damned
"
Lestat
shuddered. "
a vegetarian cookbook, Brad Pitt and a
costume from the
Village People."
"Oh God no," Louis moaned, holding his head in his
hands. "Not the
whole disco bit again."
"I wanna find Brad Pitt," Nicole giggled.
"Well, we should huddle now and strategize," Gina
announced.
"Strategize?" everyone repeated.
"Is that a word?" Daniel wondered aloud.
"Oh stop it!" Gina retorted. "You know what I
mean. Come on, mortals.
Let's group."
Sorsha led the mortals out into the backyard. Monique noticed
Eddie
wasn't coming, so she went back to the living room. The vampires
(minus
Armand and Marius, who were finishing up) were huddled in a
corner and
Eddie was sitting awe-struck on the couch.
"You coming, Eddie?" Monique prodded.
Eddie shook his head. "I think I need to lay down. I'm going
to my
room." He rose from the couch, muttering 'vampires are
real?' all the
way up the stairs. Monique shrugged and joined her team outside.
"Thank me later," Sorsha snicker, pulling a CD from
behind her back.
"Ack!" Catherine exclaimed. "An autographed TVL
CD!"
Sorsha nodded. "And Lizette didn't even know I had
one."
Catherine snatched the CD from Sorsha and opened it to read the
inscription. Beverley stood behind her and read aloud.
"To my dearest Sorsha: How fortunate we are to have met. Now
I can milk
your talents for my own gain. I'd return the favor, but you keep
telling me no. What a shame. You'd make a wonderful addition to
my
family. Maybe you'll change your mind, oui, mon ami? I doubt it.
You're as stubborn as I am. Eternally, Lelio"
"Awww," Catherine cooed, handing the CD back to Sorsha.
Then she socked
her lightly in the shoulder. "Why do you tell him no? Are ya
crazy?"
"No. I enjoy tormenting Lestat about food and the sun too
much to give
that up." Sorsha grinned wickedly, then looked at the group.
"So where
do we go from here?"
2.02
"All right," said Sorsha with a smile as they huddled
outside on the
back lawn, Catherine still drooling over the Vampire Lestat CD.
"I
think we should split into groups of two or three, pairing people
who
don't know New Orleans with people who do, so no one gets lost.
I'll
team up with Catherine, Lizette can take Monique and Eddie,
Beverley can
take Nicole and Myst can be partners with Gina. How does that
sound?"
"Great!" bubbled Monique. "Lemme just go get
Eddie. I think he's still
upstairs." She hurried off.
"I assume that we'll split the list as well then, "
said Myst, arching
one eyebrow.
Sorsha nodded. "Yeah. Here..." She distributed copies
to Myst, Lizette
and Beverley. "The checked items are the ones you should
look for. Of
course, if you spot anything else that is on the list, by all
means take
it. Better to have a few extra items around in case anything
mysteriously disappears, " she said with a quick grimace and
a glance
back in the direction of the house. "Now, we have Monique's
rental car,
my convertible and Lizette's van, and Lestat has been kind enough
to
lend us one of his Porches. "
"Have you checked it over for any...erm... glitches?"
demanded Beverley
pointedly, glancing at Lizette.
"Went over it with a fine tooth comb," said Sorsha
confidently. "It's
in perfect condition."
"Then I'll take it," said Beverley quickly with a
wicked smile at Myst,
who looked crestfallen.
"Hey, you can have our rental!" said Monique brightly,
arriving back at
the scene with Eddie in tow. "Since we'll be going with
Lizette.
Eddie-- Eddie..." She waved her fingers in front of his
face.
"Huh?" he said, looking at her distractedly.
"Where are the keys, Eddie?"
"In my pocket," he said distantly, not reaching for
them. "I can't
believe it. They're real."
Monique looked at the others apologetically and rolled her eyes,
dipping
her fingers into Eddie's pocket and tossing the keys to Myst, who
caught
them deftly. "He didn't know about the vampires," she
explained. "Come
on, Eddie." She took his hand, following Lizette.
"Let's go."
Meanwhile the vampires had similarly organized themselves and
paired
off; Louis with Lestat (of course), Armand with Daniel, and Jesse
with
Marius.
Lestat had leaned back comfortable on the couch, stretching his
feet out
in front of him. "This is going to be the easiest $200 000 I
ever
made," he said outloud to anyone who was listening.
Armand arched one eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Lestat,
when have you ever had to work for your money?" he asked
pointedly.
Lestat thought. "Um, well, never," he said finally.
"You're right,
Armand. I hadn't realized..." He settled back farther in his
seat and
his smug smile grew wider.
"You won't really make Sorsha pay if we win, will you?"
asked Louis
anxiously from the corner.
"What do you mean, *if* we win?" demanded Lestat,
rising to his feet.
"Of course we're going to win. We're *vampires*, for God's
sake! We
have the speed, the agility, the strength and intelligence and
wit that
these silly mortals can only dream about! And of course I'm going
to
make Sorsha pay. *She* was the one who made the bet."
"Bet?" David entered from the kitchen, folding his arms
over his chest
and looking at Lestat accusingly. "What sort of bet? Lestat,
I will
have no hanky-panky going on during this scavenger hunt."
Lestat approached David with a seductive smile. "But
David," he purred,
sliding his hands slowly up David's chest. "Hanky-panky is
what I'm all
about."
David drew himself up to his full height and glared down at
Lestat.
"Lestat, I am the moderator of this Scavenger Hunt, and as
such I cannot
entertain any intimacy with any member of the hunt."
Lestat scowled, rocked back on his heels, and then before David
could
react, gave him a long, passionate kiss, leaving David
breathless. When
he let go he gave an exaggerated sigh and turned, tossing his
hair back
over his shoulder and fluttering his lashes. "Pity," he
murmured,
sauntering over to Louis. "I guess that means it will be
just the two
of us, mon cher," he murmured, loving the embarrassed flush
that rose to
Louis' cheeks.
Just then the mortals burst back in, led by Sorsha. "We're
off," she
announced as the others made their way to the front hall, keys
jingling
as they grabbed their jackets and proceeded to the front
driveway.
Armand and Daniel jumped to their feet and headed out as well,
followed
by Marius and Jesse. "That is, I will be as soon as I find
my keys..."
Sorsha went on.
She began to fish around the room as Catherine waited patiently
and
Beverley approached Lestat. "I assume you are taking my
Porsche, " he
said to her, handing her the keys. Beverley took them warily, not
sure
that she liked the little smile playing across his lips, and
fighting
the urge to throw herself into his arms. "Hmm, I would like
that very
much, ma chere," he said with a sexy purr.
"Lestat!" warned David with a lift of the brows.
Lestat sighed. "Yes, yes, of course, the rules," he
said resignedly.
And then he added in a low growl to Beverley, "Maybe we can
break them
together some time, cherie."
Beverley gave him her most winning smile. "Perhaps,"
she replied
steadily as she turned and guided Nicole out the door.
"Ah-HA! Here they are!" exclaimed Sorsha, snatching her
keys from under
the sofa pillow. "Come on, Catherine. Let's boogie."
Outside the cars of the mortals and vampires were revving up,
headlights
flashing and engines purring (or in the case of the rental car,
choking
gutturally). And then they were off, and the hunt began...
Marius stood frowning after them and Jesse joined him on the
front lawn.
"You know, I just remembered that I'm not supposed to fly,
" he said
thoughtfully.
"And?" supplied Jesse.
"We don't have a vehicle."
"Oh." Jesse frowned. "That would be a
problem."
Marius sighed. "So, my dear, I suppose we must walk,"
he said, starting
out resolutely.
"Um, Marius," said Jesse. "We can always call a
cab."
Marius stopped, delighted. "What a novel idea! Yes, yes, I
thing a cab
would be superb. Let's get one."
Jesse shook her head and got out her cell phone.
Inside Lestat had sprawled back on the couch, totally relaxed,
while
Louis gazed at him, perplexed.
"Shouldn't we be leaving, Lestat?" he asked finally.
Lestat opened one eye. "Why?"
"To go one the Scavenger Hunt!" replied Louis,
exasperated. "To find
our items! I don't even know what we are supposed to get! What
are we
supposed to get? You have the list."
"Brad Pitt."
"Pardon me?"
"We're getting Brad Pitt."
Louis' eyes widened. "Oh. My."
He sat down abruptly. Lestat smiled. "Nervous about meeting
your
double?" he asked softly.
"My double?" Louis' eyebrows shot up. "Oh, you
mean the movie-- I
thought-- he doesn't look that much like me, really." He
took a deep
breath. "Oh, my."
Lestat grinned. "You *are* nervous," he teased.
"Well, I don't blame
you. He *is* positively ravishing... of course, not as ravishing
as you
are," he added loyally.
Louis smiled and flushed. Then he jumped to his feet. "We
should go
now, then. Since you are not allowed to fly, we must book plane
tickets-- make reservations for a night flight-- find out where
he
lives-- oh dear, what will I wear?" he demanded, becoming
flustered.
Lestat stood up slowly and stretched-- something that always
managed to
distract Louis-- all those flexing muscles... "Calm
down," said Lestat
finally, enjoying the electric green gaze running over him.
"We can
take our time."
"Take our time?! Lestat, this is no time to be fooling
around!"
exclaimed Louis.
Lestat's gaze became predatory. "That's exactly what I
intend to do,"
he said, taking a step towards Louis, who instinctively sensed
the
change in attitude, his heart quickening. "While those
mortals scurry
around New Orleans trying to find the correct items, I intend to
enjoy
myself. Then, when things are wrapping up, we zip out to
California,
pick up Brad, and are back here in time to win the scavenger
hunt. And
meanwhile..." He let his voice trail off as he ran his
thumbnail over
Louis' cheek and watched the green eyes darken. Lestat smiled
slowly.
"Kiss me," he whispered.
And of course Louis did.
2.03
"So, what are we getting first?" asked Daniel, the
breeze whipping
through his blond hair as Armand guided his black convertible
expertly
through the heavy New Orleans traffic.
"A sex manual," said Armand, glancing down at the list
he held in one
hand.
"A sex manual?" demanded Daniel. "That's it?"
Armand nodded. Daniel
smiled. "Hmm. Not bad." He settled back in his seat,
smiling to
himself. Then suddenly he frowned. "Wait a minute... a sex
manual?
Who came up with that one? Man, someone has a twisted sense of
humor..."
Armand smiled. "I think that one was paired with the Book of
the Dead,"
he said dryly.
Daniel rolled his eyes. "They had *way* too much fun with
this list..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'The Vampire Lestat' blared from the loudspeakers of Sorsha's red
convertible as Catherine nodded her head in bliss.
"I am *so* making a copy of this later, Sorsha," she
said with a grin.
Sorsha smiled. "Hey, maybe he'll give you an original,"
suggested
Sorsha with a smile. "I know for a fact he has some kicking
around
still..."
"Really? Oh, gosh, that would be so cool," said
Catherine, wide-eyed.
"So, what's our first item?"
"Daniel or Jesse's high school yearbook," replied
Sorsha calmly.
"What?!" Catherine shrieked. "Oh no! Oh, my gosh,
how in hell are we
going to find those? This is awful, Sorsha, I--"
"Catherine! Don't spazz! It's okay." Sorsha smiled
slyly. "I know
where Danny's apartment is."
Catherine stared at her in amazement. "Wow. Sorsha, I am so
impressed.
Where? How?"
"I'll show you where," she replied. "As for how, I
just know these
things, Catherine. Trust me on that."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm sorry, sir, all our sex manuals are sold out,"
said the man behind
the desk.
Daniel scowled. "Sold out? What do you mean 'sold
out?'" he demanded.
"They're very popular in New Orleans, sir," replied the
man with a broad
smile. "It's one of our favorite local pastimes, it
seems."
Armand lifted his brows. "Indeed. Can you tell us perhaps
where they
can be found elsewhere in the city?"
"Well, let me see now. There's a bookstore just down the
street, at the
corner. Hate to sell you to the competition, but--"
Armand and Daniel were already heading out the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorsha and Catherine were standing outside the doorway to
Daniel's
downtown apartment. Catherine looked at Sorsha anxiously.
"So, how do we get in? I mean, I don't suppose you have a
key..."
"Nope." Sorsha shook her head and calmly reached into
her purse. She
removed a small kit that looked to Catherine like a nail care
set.
Removing one lethal-looking instrument, she inserted it into the
lock.
"Sorsha!" exclaimed Catherine in horror. "You know
how to pick locks?
You have a lock pick set?"
Sorsha grinned. "Yup. It's a hobby. I have many hidden
talents,
Catherine," she added with a smile as there came a soft
'click'. "Ah,
here we go." She opened the door and they stepped inside the
darkened
apartment. "Now, let's find that yearbook."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Let me guess," said Armand dryly. "You're sold
out of sex manuals."
The young woman behind the counter smiled apologetically.
"Let's go,
Daniel," said Armand wearily.
They headed off to the next store.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Where would he keep that dratted yearbook?" demanded
Sorsha,
frustrated.
"Well, it's not under his bed!" yelled Catherine from
the bedroom as
Sorsha rifled through the bookshelf in the hallway. "And
it's not under
the mattress, or in the closet, or in the bathroom, or in his
coffin, or
behind the dresser, or in the dresser, or--"
"I get the picture!" yelled back Sorsha, rolling her
eyes. "Check the
living room, will ya?"
"Sure." Catherine sauntered down the hallway and paused
at the door to
the kitchen. "Hmm, I wonder what a vampire would keep in his
refrigerator," she pondered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All right! That's it!" stormed Daniel. "We've
been to every single
bookstore in this whole damned city of New Orleans, and not one
of them
have a sex manual left. What's up with these people? I mean, good
God,
is sex all they do around here?"
Armand sighed and massaged his temples. "I don't know. I
always
thought the people here were rather odd, but I never understood
why...
I thought it was just Mardi Gras." He stretched, and sighed
again
deeply. "I suppose the only thing left to do is drive to the
nearest
town and hope that they aren't sex maniacs as well," he said
resignedly.
Abruptly Daniel laid his hand on Armand's arm, his violet eyes
glowing
with sudden excitement. "Armand," he said with barely
contained
exuberance. "We don't have to do that... remember when I
made love for
you to all those people?"
Armand nodded, a puzzled smile crossing his face.
"Yes?"
"Well, I got this sex manual, 'The Variety of Sex', so that
you wouldn't
get bored watching the same old thing over and over."
Armand's eyes suddenly gleamed. "Ah, that's where you came
up with some
of those ideas..." he said softly. "I thought it was
pure imagination
on your part."
Daniel shrugged, and kept going. "Armand, I've still got
it!" he
exclaimed. "I know I do! It's back at my apartment--"
"Daniel!" Armand looked up in astonishment. "Let's
go!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Catherine opened the refrigerator door. Her eyes widened, and she
shrieked. "Sorsha! Come quickly!"
"What! What is it?" Sorsha burst into the kitchen.
"Look!" With trembling fingers Catherine took out of
the refrigerator a
large...rectangular...high school yearbook!
"Oh my God!" exclaimed Sorsha, throwing her arms around
Catherine. "I
love you, girlie!" Then she peered into the refrigerator and
wrinkled
her brow. "He keeps books in his refrigerator?"
Catherine shrugged, gazing at them. "Well, I suppose he
wouldn't need
it for anything else. And the shelves are quite convenient for
stacking
books..."
"Why would he even have a refrigerator?" went on
Sorsha, heedlessly.
"He doesn't eat." She opened up the yearbook to the
photo section and
began going slowly through them, page by page. "Let's see
now..."
Catherine meanwhile went back into the refrigerator, looking
through the
rest of the books there. She picked one up. "Hmm, 'The
Variety of
Sex'," she mused. She opened randomly to a page.
"AHHH!!!!!" she
shrieked, dropping the book and staring at it in horror. "Oh
my God!"
"What?"
"Oh my God!"
"What is it?"
"Oh my God!"
"Catherine!" Sorsha put down the yearbook and picked up
the sex manual.
"What's so bad about-- oh." Her eyes widened.
"Wow." She turned the
book at an angle. "Wow. Danny, you dog you," she said
in mild
amazement. "I had no idea..." She paused, scrutinizing
the page. "How
did that guy get his head down there when his leg is--"
"Sorsha," Catherine said very quietly. "I really
don't want to know.
Oh, God, my poor virgin eyes..." she moaned.
Sorsha stuck the little manual in her purse. "I gotta read
that later,"
she mused, picking up the yearbook again. Abruptly her expression
changed. She smirked. She giggled. "Oh, God... Danny!"
She doubled
over laughing and shoved the yearbook at Catherine.
"What's so-- oh." Catherine stifled a laugh. Sorsha was
rolling on the
floor, tears streaming down her cheeks. Catherine snorted.
"Oh dear."
"It's the beads," wailed Sorsha. "Oh, God, the
beads... and the
headband."
Catherine was chuckling loudly. "No, I'd definitely say it's
the hair.
How did he get it into an Afro? And that big huge zit at the
corner of
his nose..."
"Lemme see!" Sorsha snatched the yearbook back.
"Oh... oh, yeah!" She
burst out laughing again. And then suddenly she went silent,
clapping a
hand over Catherine's mouth. From down the outside hallway came
the
unmistakable sound of Armand's voice.
"So, just tell me why you didn't think of it *before* we
went to every
bookstore in New Orleans?" he was asking.
"I don't know!" exclaimed Daniel in frustration.
"I mean, it's not like
I've used it for 13 years..."
"Shit!" whispered Sorsha, biting her lower lip. Then
she saw
Catherine's expression. "I mean, shoot! They'll kill us if
they find
us in here. Come on, we've gotta split!" She tucked the
yearbook under
her arm and grabbed Catherine's hand, dragging her out to the
living
room.
"Why did you even keep it?" demanded Armand outside the
door as Daniel
searched for his keys.
"I dunno, I just like to keep things, you know?"
replied Daniel
distractedly.
Sorsha motioned to the open window and mouthed the word,
"Fire escape."
Catherine nodded her and followed her out, straddling the sill
and
landing as quietly as she could on the metal grill. They
descended
rapidly and made a dash for the car just as Armand and Daniel
entered
the apartment.
Armand frowned and wrinkled his nose. "It smells like
Sorsha," he said,
puzzled.
Daniel sniffed. "And Catherine," he mused. Suddenly his
eyes widened
and he made a dash for the kitchen. "Oh, no!" he
wailed.
"What is it? Armand entered the room to find Daniel rooting
frantically
through the refrigerator.
"They took my high school yearbook!" replied Daniel.
"They took it!
Oh, no, this is horrible!"
"Forget about that," said Armand impatiently.
"Where's the sex
manual?"
"It's here, I know it is..." said Daniel. "I know
it is, I saw it... I
mean, it should be here, but... well..." He looked up.
"It's not."
"What?!" demanded Armand.
"It's not here. I don't understand... I always kept it in
the
refrigerator..." His voice trailed off.
Armand sighed and looked heavenwards. "Daniel?"
"Yes?"
"Just tell me one thing. Why in God's name do you keep books
in the
refrigerator?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorsha patted her purse as the convertible roared off into the
traffic.
'The Vampire Lestat' was once again blaring through the
loudspeakers.
"We did it!" she said jubilantly, giving Catherine a
high five.
"Yup. We did it." Catherine sat back and grinned,
opening the yearbook
and chuckling softly to herself. "I wonder how the others
are doing?"
she mused.
2.04
"LESTAT!" Monique called as she pounded on the door of
Lestat's house
(he and Louis had decided to spend time there rather than at
Sorsha's
house), Eddie in tote. She was about to leave a note when the
door swung
open, and a slightly disheveled Lestat stood in the doorway.
"Monique, what do you want?" he asked slightly
flustered, then he looked
over her shoulder at the drooling Eddie, who was still repeating
the
same 'they are real' lines. "No!" he shouted shaking
his head.
Then, as if on cue her mouth dropped open, and eyes started to
fill with
tears, bottom lip quivering.
**********
"Wow! Wasn't that nice of Louis and Lestat to take Eddie off
our
hands?" Monique asked Lizette, who just laughed and shook
her head. "So
what is it we are going to get, huh?" she asked sticking her
head out
the window, trying to memorize every street, every house, and
every
flower.
"The oil," Lizette said turning the corner.
Monique looked at her with disbelief, then laughed, pounding her
fist on
the dashboard as an idea came to mind.
************
They both stared at Eddie who hadn't moved out of the door way
since
Monique had lead him in, his eyes wide, mouth agape.
"What are we to do with him?" Lestat whispered to
Louis, who just looked
at him and shrugged, then looked back at Eddie.
"We just can't leave him there, can we?"
"What if he gets hungry?" Lestat asked waving his
fingers in front of
Eddie's eyes.
Just then the phone rang. "Saved by the bell," Louis
muttered as Lestat
pounced on the phone.
He rushed back, putting the phone against Eddie's ear, who seemed
to
spark in to reality for a minute.
"Can
can I lay down?" Eddie softly asked,
startling both of the
vampires, who looked at the now dead-lined phone.
*****************
Slowly pulling back up to Lestat's house, Monique putting her
fingers
to her lips in a plead for silence, they slowly sauntered up
towards the
gate. It was locked; she looked around, then jumped and grasped
on to
the top of the fence, grimacing as she pull her body up, then
slipping
her foot in to the little spaces that she could blindly find. She
managed to get over the fence, falling with a soft *oof*. She
opened
the gate to let Lizette in, whispering for her to keep guard.
Running to
cover, Monique silently waited for a few minutes before she
scurried
over to an open window where she waited.
*******
Eddie's eyes scanned the room, looking threw cupboards and
shelves until
he found what Monique had asked him for. Why she wanted these
people's
massage oil, he did not know. There was only one problem, they
had more
than one bottle, so he gathered them up, and walked over to the
open
windows and called out "Nikiieeeeeee!"
"Shh!" was the response he heard.
Taking that as his cue, he started to drop the bottles out the
window
one at a time, until he heard a *bonk* and "Eddie that
hurt!"
After shoving all the bottles down her shirt so she would not
lose them,
Monique ran back to the gate, grabbing Lizette's hand, and
sprinted for
the van. "Did you see any thing?" she asked Lizette.
"Do you think they
knew we were here?"
